Wine Majesty Election Sees Two Men Compete in Germany for First Time
On Saturday, September 26, 2025, history will be made as the first German Wine Majesty is crowned. The preliminary decision for this prestigious title will be broadcast live online from 4:00 PM to approximately 6:30 PM on SWR Rheinland-Pfalz and on the homepage of German Wine Majesty.
The German Wine Majesty, a tradition that spans 76 years, has always been held by a female representative. However, this year, for the first time, two men are among the 12 candidates vying for the title. One of them is Levin McKenzie, the first Wine King of Rheinhessen, who was elected on September 14, 2024.
The candidates for the German Wine Majesty are carefully selected based on their expert wine knowledge, charm, and wit on stage. A jury of around 70 experts from the wine industry, politics, and media will vote online to select the five finalists.
The election process begins with the expert survey in Neustadt an der Weinstraße on Saturday. The grand finale gala, where the final decision will be made, will be broadcast live on SWR television and via stream on the internet on Friday, September 26, 2025, starting at 8:15 PM. The final decision for the German Wine Majesty will be made on the same day at the Saalbau in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
In addition to the German Wine Majesty, the election for the Nahe Wine Queen had to be cancelled this year due to a lack of candidates. Saxony is also not sending a candidate for the German Wine Queen election this year.
The role of the German Wine Queen is a busy one. During her term, she manages social media accounts, opens wine fairs and congresses, hosts wine seminars, and represents the wine world at official events such as the Federal President's festival. She also completes approximately 200 appointments, including international travel to countries like the USA, Japan, or Canada.
All information about the election of the German Wine Majesty can be found on the website of the German Wine Institute. Detailed portraits of the candidates can be found on the homepage of German Wine Majesty. Information about how the election works and whether wine queens are still relevant can also be found on the website of the German Wine Institute.
The German Wine Majesty will continue to manage wine-related events and promote German wine around the world. The election of the first male German Wine Majesty marks a new chapter in the long-standing tradition of the German Wine Queen.
Stay tuned for the live broadcast on Saturday, September 26, 2025, to witness this historic moment.
