Wind, Warm Friday, Cooler Weekend
Strong winds and shifting weather are on the way for Northern Colorado this weekend. The Deutsche Wetterdienst (DWD) has warned of powerful gusts, particularly near the foothills, with the worst conditions expected on Friday afternoon and evening. Residents should prepare for blowing dust, tricky travel for tall vehicles, and possible scattered power cuts.
Friday will start warm, with temperatures in Fort Collins climbing into the mid-60s. But by the afternoon, dangerous winds will pick up, bringing the highest risk of disruptions. Low humidity and gusty conditions will also raise the threat of wildfires.
A slight chance of light rain arrives late Friday night, lasting into early Saturday. The foothills and mountains have the best odds of seeing any spotty showers. Saturday itself will turn cooler and breezy, with highs in Fort Collins dropping to around 50-51°F. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s, making for a chilly night. By Sunday, the weather settles down. Mostly dry conditions return, with highs near 53-54°F. Nighttime temperatures will stay cold, hovering in the low 30s.
The strongest winds are forecast for Friday, bringing hazards like blowing dust and potential power outages. While a small chance of rain lingers overnight, the weekend will end on a calmer note. Sunday’s dry and seasonable weather should provide a break from the earlier turbulence.
