Getting into the holiday spirit might be a challenge this year, as the weather forecasts predict an unusual Christmas for Germany. Meteorologist Christian Herold from the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of a storm depression heading towards Germany, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, instead of the usual peacefulness and snow.

As "Zoltan" approaches from Iceland, Germany is set to experience significant rainfall in densely populated regions, as well as heavy squalls, especially in exposed coastal and mountain areas. Despite these less-than-ideal conditions, Herold remains hopeful that there might be a chance of a white Christmas in specific mountainous regions that have not yet shed their snow cover.

Unfortunately, the likelihood of a white Christmas in lower-lying areas is somewhat slim. The majority of weather forecast models suggest a warm sector covering Central Europe, which means that Germany may be hit by stormy and rainy conditions, resulting in double-digit highs in certain parts of the country.

It's worth noting that while there's no specific mention of a storm named "Zoltan" in the forecasts, Germany has recently experienced stormy conditions, such as the impact of Storm Darragh, which hit England, Wales, and Ireland around December 6-7.

No matter how the weather unfolds, it seems that this Christmas will be an unforgettable one for the Germans. So, whether you're dreaming of a white Christmas or just a quiet evening by the fire, prepare for an unusual twist in the weather forecasts!
