Wimbledon 2025: Five French Tennis Players, Including Parry and Mannarino, Secure Main Draw Places...
Get Ready for Wimbledon: The French Take on the Tennis Court
The anticipation for Wimbledon is heating up, and the qualifying rounds have kicked off! On June 23, the action started at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, near the famous Wimbledon grounds. A total of 26 French players were determined to make it through three rounds by June 26, securing a spot in the main tournament. By the end of the third round, an impressive five French players had clinched their tickets.
Diane Parry, ranked 17th seed, was a standout performer. She emerged victorious against her Australian opponent, Emerson Jones, with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win. Elsa Jacquemot, ranked 125th and 15th seed, easily dispatched Alize Cornet (840th) with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
On the men's side, Valentin Royer secured his very first Wimbledon qualification by winning an all-French battle against Titouan Droguet, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Adrian Mannarino (125th) also secured his ticket for the third Grand Slam of the season through defeating Australian Li Tu (164th), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Arthur Cazaux also made it through, triumphing against Dusan Lajovic (6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-3, 6-4). However, the last French player still in contention in the third round, Kyrian Jacquet, fell to Portuguese Jaime Faria, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
An Early Exit for Rising Star
Among the French representatives, there was, unfortunately, the departure of the new number 1, Loïs Boisson, who was eliminated in her first match on June 24. Although she made headlines at Roland-Garros as a revelation after receiving a wildcard, she couldn't repeat her success at Wimbledon qualifiers this time.
