The Royal Box at Wimbledon, a suite located inside Centre Court, played host to 74 esteemed guests during this year's tennis tournament. Invitations to sit in the Royal Box are by the discretion of the Chairman of the All England Club, currently Debbie Jevans, based on recommendations from the Organizing Committee and tennis bodies. The prestigious seating area offers VIP treatment, including access to the Clubhouse for lunch, tea, and drinks, but guests are expected to adhere to Wimbledon’s strict dress codes and conduct.
This year, Richard Branson, the Virgin Group founder, dressed in regulation navy with a white shirt and blue patterned tie, while the Prince of Wales opted for a white duck pants and a double-breasted navy blazer, forgoing a hat during the match. Virgin boss Branson, known for his island-wear, demonstrated a commitment to the formal attire expected at Wimbledon.
Notable attendees included Nicole Kidman, who gave a strong attempt to "out-ice" Conde Nast global director Anna Wintour in the Royal Box, and James Righton, aka Mr. Keira Knightley, who wore an unusual cream kit and a silver tie. The great and the good paused their busy lives for the duration of the matches, with the British royals demonstrating their expertise in maintaining decorum and respect for the players and the game.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their two elder children, were also in attendance, with Prince George seated at the oak desk of the rail in the Royal Box.
