He's recording a Heavy Metal album - William Shatner, 94, Unleashes a 35-Track Heavy Metal Album This Year

At 94, William Shatner is set to release a heavy metal album later this year. The project features 35 tracks and brings together 35 musicians from the rock and metal world. Known for his bold reinterpretations of classic songs, Shatner has hinted that this album will be a serious metal statement rather than just a novelty act.

Shatner's journey into heavy metal began with a collaboration with the band Nuclear Messiah. This partnership inspired him to push further into the genre, resulting in an album packed with covers of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest, as well as original material.

The actor has a history of working with rock legends, including Ozzy Osbourne, Deep Purple, MC5, and punk icon Henry Rollins. At least five musicians on this new album—Zakk Wylde, Ritchie Blackmore, Edgar Froese, Wayne Kramer, and Henry Rollins—have previously collaborated with him. Some sources suggest Billy Gibbons or members of L.A. Guns may also be involved, though the full list remains under wraps.

Shatner's musical style has always leaned toward the unconventional. His 1968 debut, The Transformed Man, showcased his spoken-word takes on Beatles and Elton John tracks. Now, decades later, he is ready to 'turn up the volume' with a project that defies expectations for an artist of his age.

The album, due for release in the coming months, will mark another bold step in Shatner's eclectic career. With 35 metal virtuosos contributing, it promises a mix of classic covers and fresh material. Fans can expect a project that blends his signature approach with the intensity of heavy metal.
