Will the truce in Ukraine, lasting 30 days, be upheld by both sides, yet will President Trump successfully pressure Putin to abide by this agreement?

Ukrainians are tired of giving away their land to brutal invaders, all because of a deal between Putin and some folks in the White House.

They'd rather fight and win, like the tyrant we defeated 80 years ago during World War II. But now, the West is considering a deal with Russia for Ukraine, which is crazy, given what Ukraine's been through.

This could've been avoided. But here we are. The economic power of the European leaders who visited Kyiv this weekend, plus the others who joined virtually, is more than ten times that of Russia. And yet, they haven't been able to provide Ukraine with the means to finish the job and secure victory. It'd require some tough choices domestically, but there doesn't seem to be the political will to make it happen.

Instead, Ukraine's allies are getting behind a troublesome American peace plan. This plan's a mess. The US administration seems to be taking Russia's side in the conflict, and they need Trump to strong-arm Putin into negotiations. But Donnie's shown no interest in that, so far.

Lately, though, Trump's been rethinking his Russian sympathies, thanks to a mining deal he made with Ukraine. He's started questioning whether Putin's playing him and has criticized the ongoing attacks on civilians. The leaders who visited Kyiv believe this might push Trump to finally apply some pressure on Putin and bring Russia to the negotiating table.

But there are two big 'ifs' here: Trump needs to push Putin hard, and everyone needs to agree on how to punish Russia if it doesn't comply. Kyiv didn't spell out the details of potential penalties, so it's still unclear what would happen if Russia refuses to play ball.

  1. Ukrainians, despite their resilience and past victories in wars, are dismayed at the prospect of another deal between Russia and Western leaders, reminiscent of the conflict in Ukraine.
  2. The politicians involved in war-and-conflicts and general news discussions must leverage the economic advantage held by the West to secure a ceasefire, a strategy that has been elusive so far.
  3. While the West is ready to negotiate with Russia, they risk agreeing to terms that would further weaken Ukraine, a nation that has faced brutal conflict and invasions.
  4. The troubling American peace plan, which seems to favor Russia, has stirred controversy, with questions about the US administration's intentions in war-and-conflicts.
  5. The key to resolving this conflict may lie in the hands of Donald Trump, as his recent change of heart regarding Russia could potentially lead to a ceasefire, provided he is willing to exert pressure on Putin and garner agreement on penalties for Russia's non-compliance.
