Wilhelmshaven Police Rescue Sheep in Distress
Wilhelmshaven Police recently encountered an unusual incident involving a sheep in distress. On November 2, 2025, officers discovered the animal unable to stand in a pasture near Pastorenweg.
Upon arrival, the police found the sheep well-nourished but unable to regain its footing despite several attempts. Fearing for its life, as a sheep lying on its back can be in mortal danger due to organ crush, the officers sprang into action. They carefully helped the sheep stand up, and to their relief, it was able to walk away unaided shortly afterward.
The animal protection officer on duty, Mike Reh, was present at the scene. Although the reason for the sheep's initial inability to stand remains unknown, the prompt response from the Wilhelmshaven Police ensured the animal's safety and well-being.
In cases where an animal, like the sheep in this incident, cannot stand independently, it's crucial to seek veterinary assistance. The Wilhelmshaven Police's swift action serves as a reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the role of law enforcement in ensuring the safety and health of all creatures.
