Wildlife and Shooting Sports Training under the 4-H Clover Program

Young shooters aged 6 and above have an exciting opportunity to participate in various air rifle, pistol, and shotgun events this August. These events are organized by reputable organizations such as Missouri 4-H, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF)'s AIM program.

For those interested, the shotgun event is scheduled to take place at Rice Creek Hunting & Recreation, 16543 Game Farm Rd, from 6:30-8 pm. However, the exact dates for August 12 and August 19 remain unclear.

Let's delve into the specifics of some of these youth events.

The Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports State Match (2025) Air Rifle/Pistol Details are as follows: The event is divided into three age categories - Junior (8-10 years), Intermediate (11-13), and Senior (14-18). Junior participants will shoot only from the prone position, while others will shoot from three positions - prone, standing, and kneeling, at a distance of 10 meters. The event offers both Standard Air Rifle (open sights) and Aperture Air Rifle (aperture rear sights) categories. Participants are required to wear appropriate footwear, and matches are held at designated 4-H event locations. Parental consent is typically required for youth participation in 4-H matches.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Air Rifle and Air Pistol Program (2025) hosts National 3-Position Air Rifle matches at CMP Competition Centers and National Matches at Camp Perry, usually in July. The event follows detailed National Standard 3PAR rules valid from 2024-2026. It offers special events such as Best Center-Shot Contests, Bench Rest Air Rifle, and Target Sprint. Competition rules are federal, and sanctioning instructions are provided. Parental consent and youth eligibility are managed via event sanctioning forms and declarations.

The Youth and College Programs via National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) include participants from elementary grades through college. The focus is on academics, integrity, and marksmanship for youth in grades 4 through college. It offers registered competitions for shotguns and air rifles/pistols. Parental consent is mandatory as part of youth participant safety policies. Event locations and times depend on local clubs and regional programming.

It's important to note that equipment will be available for use or participants can bring their own for the events on August 12 and August 19. Parent consent forms must be completed, copies of which will be available the night of training. The locations for these events have not been specified.

For those interested in wildlife education, an event is happening on August 7. Cloverbuds and up can participate in this event. No prior experience or participation is required to attend any of the events.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that another air rifle/pistol and shotgun event is scheduled for September 3. The location and details for this event are yet to be announced.

For the most accurate and detailed schedules, contact the organizers directly or consult their official event calendars and rulebooks. Stay tuned for more updates!
