Wildfire near Teotihuacán’s Pyramid of the Moon quickly contained without damage
A la fires broke out in the Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone on Wednesday night, near the Pyramid of the Moon. The blaze was detected around 8:00 p.m. in a brush and grassland area, but it was quickly brought under control without causing any damage to historic monuments or injuries. Heritage personnel, using the institute’s own water tanker, rushed to the scene to help extinguish the flames. Firefighters and civil protection teams in San Martín de las Pirámides provided support to contain the emergency. Despite the fire remaining confined to dry grassland, authorities ensured it did not reach any of the archaeological structures within the major pre-Hispanic site. The Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone remains open to visitors and is operating normally under its regular hours. Authorities have confirmed that no damage was caused to the historic monuments, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
