Wild Animal Park Hellenthal's Hubertus Festival: Up Close with Nature's Creatures
Every autumn, the Wild Animal Park Hellenthal hosts the grand Hubertus festival, a unique event that brings visitors closer to nature and its creatures. This year's festival, held at the start of the autumn holidays, was no exception, offering a variety of exciting activities.
The highlight of the festival was the non-annual bat flight demonstration, dubbed the 'Bat Night Flight Show'. Visitors were treated to a rare glimpse of these nocturnal creatures as they took to the skies at dusk.
Marie Girnus, a 35-year-old from Wuppertal, had a thrilling encounter with an Andean eagle during the festival. Meanwhile, eleven-year-old Nikita Undorf was captivated by the majestic monk vulture and eagerly awaited the rare nocturnal owl flying display.
Hermann Carl, a hunter, participated in the festival with his Rolling Forest School. He performed stag calling using a cardboard tube, imitating the calls of red deer. The festival also featured puppet theater, a campfire for children, and informative stands for the whole family.
The Hubertus festival at the Wild Animal Park Hellenthal successfully made the autumn in nature an experience for visitors. The park remained open until midnight to accommodate the owl flying display, ensuring everyone had the chance to enjoy the unique spectacle. The festival's diverse offerings, from close encounters with birds of prey to educational activities, made for a memorable day in the heart of nature.
