Minister Wike Claims No Personal Feud with Suspended Governor Fubara, But Battles Political Foes
Wike Reveals True Adversaries He's Clashing With: Identifies Fubara as Ally instead of Enemy
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, declared that his disagreements are not with suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, but with those instigating him against him. Wike affirmed that Fubara remains his political son.
Wike asserted, "It's not a battle. He's my boy, he's my son, why would I fight with him? I'm only fighting against people who want to pilfer what they didn't toil for." He further emphasized that defeating these individuals is crucial to end the conflict and silence their efforts to tarnish his reputation.
Recently, rumors circulated about Wike's health, but he brushed them aside during the interview, stating, "As I'm talking to you, do I look sick? Looking at me, would you think I'm above 30 years? I'm in great shape."
Historically, tensions between Wike and Fubara have been rooted in political power struggles within Rivers State, culminating in public disputes and workshops focused on dialogue among stakeholders. The conflict reached a critical point when President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara, exacerbating Rivers State's political instability.
