Nyesom Wike Writes Off Three Foes in Hotly Contested Rivers State Battle

"Wike Accuses Three Politicians of Harvesting Where They Didn't Plant in Rivers"

According to our report, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has publicly identified three adversaries in his standoff in Rivers State. This declaration comes after the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as well as his deputy and other Assembly members, following the announcement of a state of emergency in the oil-rich region.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Pidgin, Wike, entangled in a bitter feud with his alleged political heir, Fubara, pointed fingers at Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara as the miscreants undermining fair play.

Wike alleged that the trio are the brain behind Fubara’s grievances with him, asserting that he will administer a decisive defeat to them. He stated, “I'm battling treacherous associates, those who desire to reap where they haven't sewn. That includes the likes of Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara. I've triumphed over them in the past, and I'll deliver a crushing blow this time around."

Amidst the turmoil, Wike remains steadfast in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressing his resolve to support President Bola Tinubu. During the BBC interview, Wike asserted that he is not one to succumb to fear, adding that he cannot abandon a house he built for others to destroy. He argued, "I won't be driven away from my home - how can I construct a house and be forced to leave it? It's them that will leave, not me who built it. I won't permit the destruction of a home I've worked so hard to build. I won't back down - I'll stay put!"

The trio of politicians that Wike named in his fight are Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara. Wike implicated them in orchestrating the suspended Governor Fubara against him and attempting to hijack the political process in Rivers State. He expressed his anger over their greed and stated that he has defeated them previously, swearing to deliver a devastating blow in the near future [3].

The ongoing conflict in Rivers State stems from a political schism and crisis, despite Wike and Fubara having a strained relationship since 2023. Wike maintains that Fubara remains his "political son" but insists that his conflict is not personal with Fubara but those who manipulate Fubara to serve their interests. Wike emphasized that the conflict is not with Fubara but driven by others striving to control the political landscape in Rivers State for their benefit [1][2][3].
