Unfiltered Confrontation: Wike Calls Out Peterside Over Fubara's Suspension

Wike Accuses Peterside of Causing Issues for the Governor

In the hot seat of political banter, Nyesom Wike - the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory - has bluntly accused Atedo Peterside, founder of IBTC Bank, of being one of the forces behind the problems plaguing the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

During a candid media interview on Monday, Wike fired back at Peterside's remarks that labeled the appointees of Rivers' sole administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, as riffraffs. The Minister wasn't shy about pointing out Peterside's perceived lack of support during Fubara's rise to power.

Snarling with disdain, Wike said, "Peterside's comment is nothing short of regrettable. Calling appointees riffraffs... that's going too far. PhD holders aren't riffraffs just because they didn't manage to set up a bank. If they had, they wouldn't be considered riffraffs.

These are the very people who stirred up trouble for the governor. While we were putting this young man in the governor's seat, what exactly was Peterside's contribution? He's from Opobo LGA.

How can a man spew such blanket insults as calling people riffraffs? Fact is, anyone in a position of power should aim to make a positive impact on their people.

One time, I quizzed Wigwe, asking what he's been doing for Rivers State while he's based in Lagos, flying in every day. His response? He said he'd be back in two weeks with a plan to set up a world-class university. Well, it's been some time, and we've yet to see any fruits of his labor."
