Wien im Rosenstolz Kicks Off: 25 Years of Wienerlied Celebration

The 25th edition of 'Wien im Rosenstolz', Vienna's beloved festival celebrating Wienerlied and apple music, kicked off at the Theater am Spittelberg. The opening evening showcased a diverse range of musical styles and themes, with performances by various formations. The festival began with Hollatrio, featuring Tini Kainrath, Marie-Theres Stickler, and Maria Stippich, setting the stage for the evening. Andreas Putz and Roland Guggenbichler followed with a rendition of the classic 'Hättma, Kenntma (Mochma oba net)'. Throughout the night, songs by artists like Karl Hodina, Trude Maly, H.C. Artmann, and Alegre Corrêa were performed, highlighting the festival's commitment to diversity. In celebration of the 25-year anniversary, a 'supergroup of Wiener music' called Strudel took the stage. This unique formation brought together Hollatrio, Agnes Palmisano & Daniel Fuchsberger, Wiener Blond, and Die Gebrüder. Agnes Palmisano and Verena Doublier of Wiener Blond delighted the audience with a best-of set, proving the versatility of Wienerlied. The festival will continue until the end of October, featuring artists such as Ernst Molden, Gunkl, Breinschmid, and Marie-Theres Stickler. The stylistic range is vast, spanning from 5/8erl in Ehr'n to the Nino aus Wien and from Roland Neuwirth to the a cappella ensemble Gustav klingt.
