Who is the Caddie of Tommy Fleetwood? Introduction to Ian Finnis

Tommy Fleetwood, the British professional golfer, recently lost the 2023 Canadian Open in a playoff to Nick Taylor. Despite this setback, Fleetwood's journey on the PGA Tour is far from ordinary, thanks in part to his long-time caddie and close friend, Ian Finnis.

Finnis, known for his dry sense of humor and care for his fellow caddies, has been a constant presence in Fleetwood's career. The duo's partnership dates back to their amateur golf days and has been instrumental in Fleetwood's progress and stability on tour.

Finnis, standing at 6ft 7in, and Fleetwood, who is 5ft 8in, make an interesting pair. Since starting to work together in the spring of 2016, Fleetwood has recorded seven DP World Tour wins. One of their most notable victories was at the Scottish Open in 2024, a comeback that Finnis made after undergoing open-heart surgery.

Finnis' exceptional knowledge of equipment has significantly benefited Fleetwood during competitions. His expertise extends beyond the course, as he is highly regarded for his support and guidance. Despite recent challenges, including near misses and tough finishes, Finnis remains Fleetwood’s trusted caddie without any reports of a change in their partnership.

Their most recent close call was at the 2025 Travelers Championship, where they came within reach of victory but ultimately lost to Keegan Bradley. Nevertheless, Fleetwood and Finnis represented Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with Fleetwood winning the silver medal for his country.

Finnis, who worked as an assistant professional at Formby Hall, is also a proud family man. He is married to former England women's goalkeeper Rachel Brown, and they have two children named Zara and Freddy. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Finnis launched a raffle to raise money for out-of-work loopers, demonstrating his commitment to his fellow caddies.

On the course, Finnis carries an EFC yardage book at every event, a nod to his love for Premier League club, Everton. Despite the demands of caddying on the PGA Tour, Finnis remains a key part of Fleetwood's team, providing invaluable support and knowledge.
