White Lion's Mike Tramp Keeps Rock Legacy Alive With Re-recorded Hits
White Lion's debut album 'Fight To Survive' drew inspiration from rock legends like Van Halen, Queen, and Journey. The band's frontman, Mike Tramp, has remained a constant presence, recently releasing a trilogy of re-recorded favourites under his own name in 2023.
White Lion's eight-year journey concluded in 1991, but Mike Tramp, the sole original member, kept the spirit alive. He formed Freak Of Nature and pursued a solo career after the band's split. Tramp's lyrical depth, evident in 'El Salvador' from 'Fight To Survive', set White Lion apart from typical 80s rock.
The band's second album, 'Pride', found unexpected success with 'Wait' securing heavy rotation on MTV. However, their third album, 'Big Game', struggled with an identity crisis, attempting to cater to diverse fan bases.
After a 17-year hiatus, White Lion returned in 2008 with 'Return Of The Pride'. Mike Tramp, the band's constant, led the revival. Unfortunately, guitarist Vito Bratta, known for his arm injury, vanished from the scene. Despite this setback, White Lion's legacy lives on through Tramp's recent re-recordings.
