Which Minister Sparingly Shells Out on Beauty Services

Geez, those are some pricey bills...

The Federal Government disclosed its expenditure since January 2023 on professional makeovers for ministers, state secretaries, and parliamentary state secretaries, in response to a query from Stephan Brandner (57, AfD), a member of the Bundestag.

This disclosure was a response to Brandner's inquiry.

The (un)polished truth: The German government shelled out a staggering 186,000 euros on their grooming sessions this year.

However, there's a wide disparity!

⏩ The thrifty one: Economics Minister Robert Habeck (54, Greens) has only spent a modest 550 euros this year.

Frugal with grooming bills: Economics Minister Robert Habeck (54, Greens)

► Christian Lindner's (44, FDP) Ministry of Finance also boosts austere spending, with a total of 1833 euros spent.

► Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (42, Greens) carries the heaviest bill: her ministry has doled out 98,770 euros on makeovers and grooming artists since January. Yet, Baerbock's extensive travel schedule could be a factor, as she has numerous appointments to prepare for.

⏩ Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65) has splurged 23,013 euros on grooming since January 1.

► Family Minister Lisa Paus' (55) bouffant hairdo requires a cost of 20,909 euros to maintain, nearly as much as Scholz's.

► The Federal Building Ministry of Klara Geywitz (47, SPD) spent a relatively modest 12,816 euros.

⏩ Attending to the troops also necessitates a well-groomed image. The Ministry of Defense, led by Boris Pistorius (63, SPD), doled out 3869 euros for grooming.

  1. The German Taxpayers Association has raised concerns over the exorbitant expenses, with frugal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (54, Greens) leading the way with a minimal 550 euros spent, while Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (42, Greens) carries the highest bill of 98,770 euros.
  2. The spending habits of the traffic light coalition's cabinet members on makeovers and grooming artists for appointments have come under scrutiny, with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65) spending 23,013 euros and Family Minister Lisa Paus (55) not far behind at 20,909 euros.
  3. The German Taxpayers Association, a member of the opposition, has raised questions about the spending habits of the federal government, noting that the SPD-led Ministry of Defense spent 3869 euros on grooming for visiting troops, as part of the German Taxpayers Association's ongoing scrutiny of German political spending, including 'politics-inland'.
