Which Football Club Red-Weiß Erfurt player stands out as the Season MVP?

Let's Talk AboutErfurt's Unstoppable Team of 2024

The FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt gang took home the trophy for the last Regionalliga season, surprising everyone with a remarkable turnaround from a dismal start to a strong finish. Third place, baby! But who catches your eye the most? Time to crown the standout player of the season.

Cast your vote in the poll by June 27! The champion will be celebrated at the start of the upcoming season. We’ve made it simple—you just have to select your fave who has played at least ten league games. The crew of 18 is jam-packed with talent. Here's a taste of who's on the ballot (in no particular order):

Phillip Aboagye (28 games, 6 goals): This speed demon is all about dribbling skills—especially when he's netting goals. It's true, he scored all six of his season goals in three games, but he can be more consistent with his shots.

Maxime Awoudja (26 games, 3 goals): transitioning from winter 2024, he nailed down the center-back position with his solid performances and strong one-on-one defense, but his season was cut short by injuries.

Benny Boboy (21 games): He came off the bench in 14 of his 21 games for Hennef, his close-quarters skills are always on point. Still, he's playing a multiple role—left or right back, center-back, or defensive midfielder—searching for his permanent position.

Benjika Caciel (15 games, 3 goals): He stormed the scene as a winter arrival on the right wing. His mobility pumps up the offense but be warned: he's missing robustness in tackles and precision in finishing.

Robin Fabinski (32 games, 1 goal): This talented young lad is the son of Rot-Weiß legend Zbigniew Fabinski, turning heads as a center-back at just 21. With a strong physical presence and good build-up play, third-division side VfL Osnabrück was all over him, paying a transfer fee of around 50,000 euros.

Robbie Felßberg (22 games, 2 goals): If he's fit, he's a valuable asset, working across almost all positions on the wings. However, his season was hindered by injuries (hip, adductor).

Tino Kaufmann (10 games, 1 goal): He didn't make waves in Erfurt during his loan from VfB Stuttgart II in winter, appearing in just ten brief games. His shining moment was the winning goal against Greifswald on his very first touch. The German midfielder will return to Stuttgart.

Lars Kleiner (20 Games, 3 Goals): Plays a significant role in the offense in the first 20 games and scored Erfurt's first goal of the season. The youngster failed to cement a regular starting position, as a cruciate ligament injury in February cut his season short. He’s unlikely to return before winter 2025.

Maxime Langner (31 Games, 3 Goals): He's the young Nils Petersen of FC Rot-Weiß, playing in 31 games, many of them as a sub. His good technique is a threat to opposing teams, and he's scored three goals and assisted four. However, he needs to pick up his pace. Time for the youngster to show his stuff with league rivals Chemie Leipzig next season.

Jeremiah Maluze (30 Games, 4 Goals): A pleasantly surprising newcomer on the defensive midfield. He impressed with his heading strength and finished the season with four goals and seven assists.

Ben-Luca Moritz (33 Games, 2 Goals): This dependable guy playing on the right defensive side, with the most playing minutes of any field player (2890). You can always count on his no-nonsense approach to tackles and heading ability.

Lorenz Otto (33 Games): This goalkeeper was a welcomed addition to the team, showing that he remains unflappable even after making a mistake in the Jena derby (1:5). The 24-year-old has been the undisputed number one for the team, playing 2970 minutes and keeping ten clean sheets.

Pablo Soares Santana (16 Games): The highly-talented, left-footed player was out for half the season due to an ankle fracture but hit the ground running upon his return, reliably filling the left-back position and impressing in midfield.

Til Schwarz (25 Games): The captain is a beacon of dedication to the team, embodying a relentless spirit and play. However, he struggles to be successful in attack (zero goals this season), and he can sometimes get carried away, receiving a red card in the Halle game (0:2).

Andy Trübenbach (31 Games, 6 Goals): At 33, he's the most experienced player in the squad but fell short of expectations following his move from Meuselwitz, appearing mostly as a substitute in the second half of the season. He will return to Meuselwitz in the next season.

Obed Ugondu (28 Games, 11 Goals): He joined from the Oberliga and struggled initially, receiving a red card in his third game against Hertha II (1:2). But he quickly adapted, becoming a headache for defenders, netting 11 goals.

Omer Uzun (30 Games, 5 Goals): Close to an equal number of starts and substitutes (16:14). The striker often led the charge and was strong in aerial duels, but he couldn't hold onto the central striker position against Obed Ugondu in the second half of the season. He segued into short appearances in the final stages of the season.

New Development

The FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt family is growing! This season, Marco Wolf joined from Halle, fast earning the starting position of the team's pivot with his composure and vision on the ball. The good set-piece taker even played through a broken nose in the 3:1 win against Jena!
