Titled: "Enhancing Privacy with WhatsApp: Beyond the Chat Lock"

Ever engaged in clandestine chats or hidden conversations you'd rather keep off your WhatsApp home screen? Well, WhatsApp has got your back with its recently introduced function, nicknamed the 'Heimlich function' (though it's probably not that intriguing a name).

So, what's the big deal? Now, your secret chats will no longer be readily apparent in the WhatsApp overview. They'll only surface when you successfully input your custom-created secret code into the search bar. This means your confidants, unwanted or otherwise, won't stumble upon your hidden conversations unless you willingly share the password.

Initially unveiled last Friday, this nifty new feature is set to roll out to all WhatsApp users worldwide in the coming months. But remember, this protected paradise can be breached if you unwittingly disclose the secret code accommodating those hidden chats.

Don't confuse it with the 'chat lock' feature introduced in the spring by WhatsApp. While essentially offering protection, this feature enables users to safeguard a specific conversation via their cell phone pin, fingerprint, or face scan. Chat messages remain immune from unauthorized reads, but prying eyes might still spot your secret chat partner if they chance upon your cell phone.

To block that bothersome chat? Just press and hold on the conversation, and from the menu, select the perfect option for you.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that WhatsApp might be working on another ingenious feature, allowing users to chat without needing the recipient's phone number. In lieu of that, a search bar for usernames seems to be under development, making the process of handling nuisance contacts a whole lot simpler.

Threema and Signal, other messaging platforms, have already ventured into this realm, where chats are feasible without a contact's phone number, granting you even more privacy.

With that said, fortify your private conversations using Android apps like WhatsApp or Apple's messaging app, which offer encrypted instant messaging as an additional safeguard.

For the record, although there isn't a 'Heimlich function' as such, WhatsApp does boast some notable privacy features, such as end-to-end encryption, chat lock, disappearing messages, and two-step verification, ensuring your privacy remains intact.
