If you're a fan of hit TV series such as "Wednesday", "House of the Dragon", "Bridgerton", or "Stranger Things", you may be wondering when the next installments will be available to watch. Here's an overview of what's next for some of your favorite shows.
"The Last of Us"
The live-action adaptation of the popular video game "The Last of Us" captivated audiences and critics alike in early 2023. Pedro Pascal starred as Joel, and Bella Ramsey played Ellie. As a result of the devastating consequences of the strike in Hollywood, the production of the highly anticipated second season has been delayed.
Nonetheless, HBO has renewed the series less than two weeks after its premiere episode aired. With post-production taking some time, filming for season two is scheduled to begin in 2024. However, you may have to wait until 2025 to finally see the new episodes.
For season two, the successful video game sequel "The Last of Us Part II" will serve as inspiration. As a result, fans may expect a time jump in the series, as in the original game.
"House of the Dragon"
Castle Black will once again be graced with the presence of House Targaryen in the second season of "House of the Dragon". Though no official release date has been set, HBO and its streaming service Max have announced that season two will likely be available around the same time in 2024 as the first season was in Germany, on both Sky and Wow.
We can expect to see, among others, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, Rhys Ifans, and Olivia Cooke in their respective roles. This season will delve even further into the Targaryen civil war, also known as the "Dance of the Dragons".
"The White Lotus"
If you've been sleeping on this one, you might want to give "The White Lotus" a try. The series, which debuted in 2021, has received critical acclaim and awards. Season three will not be released until 2025, but you can expect a captivating exploration of death and Eastern religion and spirituality in the White Lotus resort in Thailand, with a brand new ensemble cast. Kindly returnee Natasha Rothwell will once again grace our screens.
"Wednesday"
Fans of Jenna Ortega cannot wait for the second season of the highest-rated English-language series on Netflix, "Wednesday". Although a release date has not yet been set, series creator Al Gough and Miles Millar have teased some exciting developments.
According to Ortega, there will be more horror elements in the new season, and her character, Wednesday, will remain single throughout. No further details have been released about the plot or cast, but industry insiders hint that production for the new season will begin in April 2024.
"And Just Like That..."
Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte will be back for a third season of "And Just Like That...". Although production was delayed by the strike in Hollywood, a release date for late 2025 has been set.
The new season will explore where the characters' lives have taken them since the last season. Will Carrie and Aidan finally reunite, or will Miranda and Steve call it quits? Only time will tell.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power"
If you're a big fan of the classic Middle-earth series, you won't want to miss this show. The second season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is in production and set to be released sometime in 2024.
Although not much is known about the plot, fans can expect to see a deeper dive into Sauron and the struggles of Middle-earth. Exciting additions to the cast will include Ciarán Hinds, best known for his role as Mance Rayder in "Game of Thrones".
"Stranger Things"
The upcoming fifth and final season of "Stranger Things" is expected to premiere in late 2024. Notorious for its complex production schedule, delays stemming from the Hollywood strike have pushed back the release to next year.
The new season will likely explore the emotional and dramatic consequences of the events that unfolded at the end of the last season. Fans can also look forward to the arrival of "Terminator" icon Linda Hamilton. While it's too early to disclose her role, we can be sure that she will bring a unique flare to the series.
"Bridgerton"
Though season three of "Bridgerton" has not yet been officially released, fans can rest assured that they will be graced with the beautiful English gentry. The new season is already in pre-production and set to be released in 2024.
In a surprising turn of events, Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne Bridgerton, has announced that she will not be reprising her role for the third season. Instead, new characters will take the spotlight, with season one leading men Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) and Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma) continuing their love story.
"Squid Game"
If you haven't watched "Squid Game" yet, we highly recommend it. Fans of the Korean series can rejoice, as a second season is planned for release in 2024. With lead actor Lee Jung-Jae returning for the new season, the game will once again be a thriller you won't want to miss.
