Uncovering Hanna Waddingham's Unforeseen Talents at her Unforgettable Christmas Bash

Who wouldn't want to be part of the year's coolest yuletide shindig? Well, you're in luck! "Ted Lasso" star Hanna Waddingham (49) invites you to the anticipated Christmas spectacle "Home for Christmas" on Apple TV+, beginning November 22. This fun-filled event, filled with singing, dancing, and surprise guests, will leave you jingling with joy and laughter.

Rebecca, the trendy owner of "Richmond FC" soccer club, is Waddingham's beloved character on "Ted Lasso," which airs on Apple TV+. In the series, she hires an American football coach from the States (Jason Sudeikis), with the intent to tear the team apart, seeing as it was once her ex-husband's forté. Yet, as fate would have it, everything unfolds differently.

Wittingly, Waddingham demonstrates a hidden talent - her powerhouse vocals - in her Christmas spectacular. "Some might be surprised to learn that I too can sing," she shares on US television. "I can't recall a moment in my lifetime devoid of singing."

The stage is hers

It is no wonder that her talent runs in the family, as she recounts, "My mother was an opera singer, her parents were as well. But my mother claims that I don't sing, just screech." Regardless, her vocal prowess earned her several nominations for Best Actress in a Musical.

"Home for Christmas" allows Waddingham to merge her two passions - music and the holiday season. "I'm utterly obsessed with Christmas, and for me, the festivities begin in mid-November. Mariah Carey should be on notice; the crown of the Christmas Queen might soon switch hands."

The show was filmed back in May at the London Coliseum on a scorching afternoon. "We were drenched in sweat, but the fun never abated," confides Waddingham. The Coliseum holds a special place in her heart, as "when I was eight, my mother began performing there as a mezzo-soprano. It has always felt like my second home."

Joining her in the show were surprise guests like Luke Evans (44), Leslie Odom Jr. (42), and Sam Ryder (34). A few familiar faces from "Ted Lasso" graced the stage as well, with the release of the popular Apple TV+ series' third season in 2023.

A power duo: Hannah Waddingham and Jason Sudeikis

If you've been yearning for more from Hannah Waddingham, you're in luck! Plans for a spin-off focusing on a "Richmond FC" women's team are underway - and the actress expects many familiar faces to join the lineup.

Alas, a fervent wish of the cast - a shared tattoo – has yet to come to fruition. "I'm currently convincing everyone to get a Greyhound tattoo – the club mascot for Richmond. I bet it would be hilarious. So that everyone knows where we hail from in our next lives."
