This week, the highly anticipated match-up between Paramount High and Norwalk High takes centre stage as the HMG-Community News Game of the Week. Both teams are eager to make their mark, with Paramount High aiming to avenge last season's loss and Norwalk High looking to break a four-game losing streak against their rivals.

Meanwhile, La Mirada High's football team has been turning heads this season, thanks in large part to the arrival of sophomore transfer quarterback Ace Faagata from Desert Pines High in Las Vegas. Faagata's leadership has been instrumental in their success, but an injury sustained in the second quarter against Tesoro High on Sept. 5 has kept him out of action for the past two weeks. In his absence, La Mirada High suffered a 54-14 loss to Western High on Sept. 10. However, coach Lucas Mealy is hopeful that Faagata will be back for the Gateway League opener against Warren High on Oct. 3.

Elsewhere, Whitney High dominated the first 605 League cluster meet at Clark Park, winning both varsity races. Senior Dani Romero took the girls' race with a time of 19:59, while Cristian Ishiki won the boys' race with a time of 17:04.

La Mirada High will conclude the non-league portion of its schedule on Sept. 25 against La Habra High. La Habra High, who recently suffered their first loss of the season against Mira Costa High, will be looking to bounce back. Senior running back Kevika Mata'Utia-Martinez leads the rushing attack for La Habra High with 299 yards on 43 carries and five touchdowns this season.

In other news, Valley Christian (2-2) faced St. Anthony High (0-3) on Sept. 18. Junior quarterback Graham Lunzer completed 23 of 34 passes for 275 yards and four touchdowns for Valley Christian, while St. Anthony High has been outscored 101-21 this season.

Paramount High, who scored 90 points in their first three games, faced a setback last week when they lost to Orange High. Norwalk High, on the other hand, edged Venice High 28-27 in the closest win of the season, with senior quarterback Axel Bustamante going three for three on his pass attempts, throwing for 48 yards and a touchdown.

The team of La Mirada High was coached by [Previous Coach's Name] before Lucas Mealy became the coach on September 17, 2025. D.J. Mitchell, quarterback for La Habra High, has passed for 729 yards and eight touchdowns to nine different players this season.

As the season progresses, these teams will continue to battle it out, with each game bringing new challenges and opportunities. Stay tuned for more updates from the world of high school sports.
