West Indies Tests Announcement: 15-Player Team and Roston Chase as Captain for West Indies against India

The West Indies and India are all set for a thrilling Test series, marking the first tour of India for the West Indies since 2018. This series, scheduled from October 2 to 14, 2025, is significant as it sets the tone for the West Indies' campaign in the World Test Championship.

The West Indies have announced a 15-member Test squad for the tour, with Roston Chase appointed as captain and Jomel Warrican as vice-captain. Notable inclusions in the squad are Alick Athanaze and Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who have been recalled to the Test squad. Additionally, Khary Pierre has earned his maiden Test call-up.

On the Indian side, Shubman Gill has been appointed captain for the series. The Indian squad, however, has not been officially announced yet. It is anticipated that KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravindra Jadeja will be part of India's playing XI. Dhruv Jurel has been selected as the wicket-keeper for the series.

India tried Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan during the recently concluded five-match Test series against England but both were ineffective. It is uncertain whether India will give more chances to Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan or include a new face in their middle-order for the series against West Indies. Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar are waiting for their chances to be included in India's Test squad.

This series provides an opportunity to test the West Indies' bench strength in unfamiliar subcontinental conditions. The West Indies' Test series against India will be the first away assignment in the new World Test Championship cycle for the West Indies.

India's bowling attack is expected to be led by Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. The West Indies will have to be at their best to counter these bowlers and make a mark in the series.

This Test series between India and the West Indies promises to be an exciting contest, with both teams eager to secure valuable points in the World Test Championship. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated series.
