West Delaware’s bowling coaches earn state and national accolades

Two bowling coaches from West Delaware High School have earned state and national recognition. Bob and Sue Morris, who lead the school’s boys’ and girls’ teams, are now in the running for top coaching honours. Their nominations highlight their dedication to the sport in Iowa.

Bob Morris has been named a finalist for Iowa’s state coach of the year in bowling. The nomination comes from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Association. His work with West Delaware’s boys’ team has brought him into the spotlight.

Later this month, eight finalists for the NHSACA national coach of the year award will be announced. Sue Morris is among those under consideration for the prestigious title. Her nomination follows recognition by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association, which put her forward for the national honour. The couple’s achievements reflect their long-term commitment to bowling at West Delaware. Both have guided their teams through successful seasons, earning praise from peers and associations alike.

The Morrises now await the final decision on the NHSACA national award. If selected, they will join an elite group of coaches recognised for their impact on high school sports. The announcement will confirm whether their contributions have secured them a place among the nation’s best.
