Wes Anderson confesses persistent efforts to enlist Jodie Foster for roles in several of his films, but ultimately failed.

Wes Andersen's Years-Long Dream of Working with Jodie Foster Yet to Materialize

Acclaimed director Wes Andersen, famed for his eccentric and all-star-studded film ensembles, has sadly never managed to cast actress Jodie Foster in his movie projects. Andersen, in a recent interview, confessed he's had several chances to collaborate with the legendary actress, but timing never seemed to align, preventing theircinematic connection.

Deadline reports that, over the years, Andersen sought to include Foster in multiple film productions, as her parts became a recurring role he was eager to fill. In a heartfelt revelation, Andersen shared, "I'd tried every movie to get Jodie Foster involved."

Remembering the numerous attempts, he explained, "It used to be that every movie, we went to Jodie Foster for a part. I guess I'd done it three movies in a row, maybe four." Nostalgically, he speakswarmly of his admiration for Foster, saying, "I really liked her. I thought she was great, Jodie Foster...I loved her."

Sadly for Andersen, repeated efforts to cast Foster went unfulfilled, and timing never seemed right. He accepted, "I'd still love to work with her. But I guess after asking a few times, I thought maybe I'm not...I think sometimes somebody has an idea of the kind of work they want to do at that time in their life, and we weren't right."

Andersen didn't specify which characters he envisioned for Foster, but his rare failure to collaborate with such a talented actress is a setback for him and film lovers alike.

Andersen's latest offering, The Phoenician Scheme, marks number 13 in his feature film collection. In this film, Benicio del Toro stars as Zsa-zsa Korda, a wealthy businessman whose life takes an unexpected turn when he appoints his daughter, Sister Liesl (Mia Threapleton), as his sole heir to his vast estate. The film, now showing in theaters, has garnered praise for its innovative storytelling and star-studded cast, further solidifying Andersen's distinct filmmaking style.

Meanwhile, Jodie Foster recently stepped into the world of French cinema with the debut of Vie privee (A Private Life). The film celebrated its premiere last month at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, where The Phoenician Scheme was also nominated for the Palme d'Or.
