Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt are European Champions in Doubles - Wendl and Arlt dominate for fifth European luge title in thrilling race

Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt have claimed their fifth European luge title in dominant fashion. The German duo also secured their first continental gold since 2019, reinforcing their position as leaders in the sport. Their victory came in a race that doubled as a World Cup event, adding even more weight to the achievement.

Wendl and Arlt left no doubt about their supremacy, finishing well ahead of their rivals. Their fellow Bavarians, Toni Eggert and Florian Müller, took second place, ensuring a German one-two on the podium.

The battle for third was fiercely contested. Austria’s Juri Gatt and Riccardo Schöpf narrowly missed out on bronze by just three-thousandths of a second. Despite the close call, the pair remain strong in the World Cup rankings, currently holding 384 points after six races. Reigning world champions Hannes Orlamünder and Paul Gubitz delivered their best performance of the season, finishing fourth. Meanwhile, Wendl and Arlt extended their lead in the overall World Cup doubles standings, now sitting on 466 points. Their latest win brings their career total to 59 victories in doubles luge.

The result cements Wendl and Arlt’s status as the pair to beat in doubles luge. With 466 World Cup points and a fifth European title, they continue to set the standard in the sport. The narrow margin for third place also highlights the intense competition at the top level.
