Welcome Greys: brighter skies expected mid-week
The football season is set to resume in Germany, with the Stuttgart Kickers starting their new campaign against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz on Sunday at 2 pm. Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the coming days indicates a mix of sun and showers, with regional variations across the country.
According to meteorologist Thore Hansen from the DWD in Offenbach, after mid-week, parts of Germany, especially near the Alps and eastern regions, can expect showers and thunderstorms due to residual low-pressure influences. On the contrary, northern and western areas may experience temporarily more stable or drier conditions. Temperatures are expected to hover in the mid-20s Celsius, with localized hotter spots in the south.
On Monday, a mix of sun and clouds, with isolated showers, is expected across Germany. The highest temperatures on Monday will be between 20 and 26 degrees. On Tuesday, heavy and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the center of Germany, moving southward. It can get stormy in the north and at the Baltic Sea on Wednesday.
The Stuttgart Kickers game will take place amid partly cloudy skies with longer sunny periods. After the match, the weather is expected to improve further, offering more extended sunny periods.
Meanwhile, in other sports news, Darja Varfolomeev from TSV Schmiden has made headlines after winning all five possible titles at the German Championships. Her impressive form indicates good prospects for the upcoming World Championships.
Unfortunately, the sports news has been overshadowed by some unfortunate incidents. On Saturday, there was an accident on a federal road in Germany, resulting in six injuries. Emergency services responded promptly, and a helicopter was deployed to transport the injured individuals to a hospital.
As the weather changes, with rain likely to end mid-week, much sunshine is predicted in Germany from Wednesday onwards. The south of Germany can expect sunny weather, while the northeast can expect sun and clouds with individual showers. The warmest temperatures on Wednesday will be at the High and Upper Rhine.
