Welcome Break & InstaVolt Revolutionize M6 Corley Services with £2M Ultra-Rapid EV Charging Project
Welcome Break and InstaVolt are transforming Corley Services on the M6, between junctions 3 and 3A, with a groundbreaking ultra-rapid EV charging project. The £2 million investment will see two large battery storage units installed on either side of the motorway, revolutionising charging infrastructure along the busy UK corridor.
The innovative system will store electricity on-site, ensuring consistent charging performance even during peak demand. John Diviney, CEO of Welcome Break, expressed pride in leading this transformation, stating, 'We're proud to be at the forefront of changing motorway services for the future.'
InstaVolt will upgrade existing chargers from 62.5kW to 160kW ultra-rapid chargers, slashing charge times for drivers. The northbound site will feature eight chargers, while the southbound site will provide seven. Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, hailed the project as a 'transformative milestone' for UK public charging infrastructure.
The project also saves on standing and capacity charges, supporting InstaVolt's off-peak charging rate of 60p per kWh between 8pm and 7am. Upon completion, the upgraded Corley Services will enhance driver convenience and fleet efficiency along the M6.
In addition to Corley Services, InstaVolt plans to install 12 more batteries across their network in the coming weeks, with the next sites in North Wales and Eastbourne. For exact completion dates, it's recommended to check InstaVolt's official website or social media channels, or local news sources for updates.
