Weimar Rally Organized by Benefixrun: Over 200 Teams to Take Part in Spreading Light and Unity
The 17th edition of the Benefix Run, a much-anticipated charity event, is set to take place on September 10th at the Wimaria Stadium in Weimar. Organised by Benefix Laufveranstaltungen, in collaboration with the Rotary Club Weimar, this year's event promises to be an exciting and impactful one.
The main run will commence at 6 PM, with number pick-up available from 4 PM on the same day. Registrations for the event can be made online via www.benefixlauf.de and must be completed by September 8th at 6 PM.
Stefan Naumann, chairman of SV Gaberndorf, emphasises the importance of sports under floodlights, stating that they promote community and integration among children and young people from different backgrounds. This sentiment is reflected in SV 1951 Gaberndorf's project, "Run for More Light", which aims to encourage more children to engage in sports. Through collaborations with six local kindergartens and schools, the number of active children has increased from 22 in July 2023 to 78 children in eight football teams.
The Benefix Run is a significant event for SV 1951 Gaberndorf, as the proceeds from this year's event will benefit the club. The aim is to modernise their floodlight system to provide reliable training conditions for the young athletes, especially during the dark winter months.
The main run is a relay event, where the goal for each team is to run as many laps as possible in one hour. Both adults and children and youth teams can participate, provided they have secured one or more sponsors. Three-person teams are welcome to join.
In addition to the main run, the "Little Benefix Run" will take place earlier in the day at the Wimaria Stadium. Many children start training as early as 4:30 PM, but it gets dark in the winter, making floodlights essential for their activities.
Since its inception in 2008, the Benefix Run has been organising charity runs, with different beneficiaries each year. Last year's event saw 1362 runners in 454 teams participate, raising a total of 31,318 euros. This year, the Benefix Run continues its mission to make a difference, bringing together the community for a good cause.
