Lindsay Lohan Revisits Iconic "Freaky Friday" Look at Sequel Premiere

At the U.K. premiere of the "Freakier Friday" sequel, Lindsay Lohan wore a custom purple dress by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, paying homage to her iconic purple outfit from the original 2003 "Freaky Friday" film.

The dress, embellished with Swarovski crystals, was an ode to one of the original "Freaky Friday" costumes designed by Genevieve Tyrrell. Lohan's dress choice was intentional, blending nostalgia with a modern fashion twist for the sequel's launch.

The custom gown worn by Lohan was inspired by the lilac-colored lace-trimmed two piece by Mandalay from the original film, where her character Anna performed with her band at her mother's wedding. Last month, Lohan was photographed in a leather miniskirt and a tee emblazoned with the words "Pink Slip" - the name of her band in the film.

Sernin, the designer of Lohan's dress, wrote on Instagram that he has been dreaming and manifesting the moment for nearly 20 years. He felt overwhelmed with joy and love as this was a full-circle moment for him.

Chemistry was noticeable between Jamie Lee Curtis and Lohan at the premiere. Curtis, reprising her role as mother Tess Coleman, told the BBC she was inspired to take part in the sequel because the film was "beloved, all over the world."

The red carpet at the premiere was designed in lilac and green, reminiscent of the poster artwork for the original 2003 film. The film "Freaky Friday" had a sequel premiere in London on Thursday.

"Freaky Friday" is one such example of a cinematic relic that has stood the test of time. The recent "Beetlejuice" reboot and the release of "Jurassic World Rebirth," the seventh film in its franchise, are examples of cultural moments driven by millennial nostalgia in the film industry.

Andrew Mukamal, Lohan's influential stylist, has been widely credited with popularizing method dressing after dressing Margot Robbie in a series of doll-like outfits for the "Barbie" press tour in 2023.
