Alien: Earth

The much-anticipated prequel series to the 1979 classic film "Alien" premiered on August 12, 2025. Set in the year 2120, this thrilling sci-fi horror series follows the story of a young woman named Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler. The series explores themes of cybernetics, artificial intelligence, and synthetic beings with human consciousness, referred to as cyborgs, synths, and hybrids.

The premise revolves around the crash-landing of the space vessel Maginot on Earth, which spills something deadly into Prodigy City. Wendy, who is part of a mysterious corporate experiment, finds herself caught in the middle of a terrifying threat to humanity. The series is available to watch in the United States on FX and Hulu, and internationally on Disney+.

And Just Like That...

On the other end of the spectrum, the sequel series to the original "Sex and the City" HBO series, "And Just Like That...", is nearing its conclusion. The series follows the life of Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, who is somewhat adrift after her relationship with Aidan imploded. In a positive turn of events, Carrie has finished her first novel. The series premieres its finale on HBO Max.

The Rainmaker

Meanwhile, the TV reboot of John Grisham's novel "The Rainmaker" has made its debut. The series revolves around a deadly hospital cover-up and stars Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor. The show premiered on USA, and P.J. Byrne and Lana Parrilla star as key characters Deck and Bruiser, respectively.

Butterfly

For those who enjoy a good spy thriller, "Butterfly" is a new series available on Prime Video. The show stars Daniel Dae Kim as a former U.S. intelligence operative.

Love Is Blind: UK

Lastly, the dating show "Love Is Blind: UK" is back for its second season. Hosted by Emma and Matt Willis, the show sees singles from the UK and Ireland finding romance without seeing each other. The second season of "Love Is Blind: UK" premieres on Netflix.
