Weekly Roundup in Sports Gambling: Income Figures, Persistent Adissues Remain Central

Get a Load of This Weekend's Sports Betting Chaos!: Let's cut the crap, we're all overwhelmed with info these days and there's never enough hours to catch up on what's happening on the wild blue yolk of ours. So, here's your weekend rundown on the top U.S. sports betting stories, wrapping up the week with a fresh spin and some juicy new tidbits.

Let's Talk Dollars and Cents

The sports betting revenue reports for June kept dropping in from the various legalized states, and boy, they didn't improve one bit. Michigan's sports betting handle? Slipped from May. Pennsylvania's sports betting handle? Not only down from May, but down from June 2021.

Y'know, summer lulls are to be expected in the sports betting world. While the majority of the 30-plus legalized sports betting states don't exactly have an accomplished history to compare to, the Nevada sports betting veteran has taught us all about the summer swoon that sportsbooks gotta brace for when the sports calendar veers away from major hoops and football remains MIA.

But there's a silver lining! With the June reports out and about in Pennsylvania and Michigan, the $10 billion mark in total revenue earned has now been reached collectively by all of the sportsbooks in all the legal states since the U.S. Supreme Court's May 2018 PASPA decision. Our squad will keep on tracking the growing smorgasbord of revenue reports, covering a wide range of topics like a boss.

Circa's NFL Contests Head North

This fall, northern Nevada bettors interested in Circa Sports' season-long NFL contests won't have to travel to or via a proxy in Las Vegas anymore. The company announced plans for a northern Nevada sportsbook set to feature stadium-style seating, a 10-by-15 video board at Legends Bay in Sparks.

Bettors can register for Circa Millions IV or Circa Survivor Contest in person or via proxy at the new location by Sept. 10. Previously, participation in Circa's or SuperBook's contests required a physical visit or proxy in the Las Vegas area.

Circa hasn't provided a solid date for the Legends Bay opening yet, but they're aiming for later this summer. The company plans to enter the Colorado's legal sports betting market, Iowa, and will even set up a temporary sportsbook in Illinois.
