In the world of time-travel drama, fans of the popular series "Outlander" can now delve deeper into the history of its characters with the release of the prequel, "Outlander: Blood of My Blood." Streaming now on MagentaTV, this ten-episode series promises to deliver drama within families, as well as between rival clans, and various intrigues.

The prequel traces the origins of characters and family histories that are referenced or alluded to in the original series. By focusing on Jamie and Claire’s parents, it provides deeper context and understanding of the Fraser and Beauchamp family trees and motivations that shaped the protagonists.

Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, are central to the prequel's drama. Ellen MacKenzie, the headstrong daughter of the late Red Jacob, of Clan MacKenzie, found herself in a love story with Brian Fraser, the son of an enemy clan. Their relationship, set in early 18th century Scotland, is presented as a love story against the turbulent political struggles of that era. Ellen's beauty and position make her a political pawn, complicating her romance with Brian Fraser.

On the other hand, Claire Beauchamp’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, are introduced in World War I England. Their meeting and romance, including a mysterious time travel element causing them to intersect with the 18th-century timeline, expand the time-travel mythology of the Outlander universe. This storyline parallels Jamie’s parents’ in a different era, enriching the origins of Claire’s lineage.

Historical figures such as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat (Jamie’s grandfather), appear, grounding the story in the same historical framework of the original series. The prequel shows these characters younger and in formative moments, offering background to their legacies.

Thematically, the prequel continues Outlander's exploration of love across time, loyalty, clan politics, and the impact of history on family, reinforcing the rich tapestry that fans recognize from the main series.

Meanwhile, in a separate narrative, Lenny, after crashing his sports car into the pool of his parents' house, is given an ultimatum: either take care of the 15-year-old severely ill David or he won't receive future financial support. Lenny agrees to take care of David, which changes his life as he feels like a big brother and tries to fulfill all of David's wishes.

In the realm of entertainment, "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox," a miniseries revisiting the sensational murder case of American Amanda Knox, starts on August 20. Also starting on the same day is "Paw Patrol: Jungle Rescues," a new animated series about the adventures of little dogs and their human friend Ryder.

Lastly, Elyas M'Barek stars in a heartwarming tragicomedy titled "This Crazy Heart," now streaming on Prime Video. In this film, M'Barek plays a 30-year-old named Lenny from a wealthy family who leads a wild party life.

With these new releases, fans have a plethora of engaging stories to explore, from the historical intrigues of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, to the suspenseful retelling of Amanda Knox's case, to the exciting adventures of Paw Patrol in the jungle, and the emotional journey of Lenny in This Crazy Heart.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of employees in the event of transfers of undertakings, especially in the entertainment industry, considering the recent spate of new movie-and-tv releases like "Outlander: Blood of My Blood," "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox," "Paw Patrol: Jungle Rescues," and "This Crazy Heart."

As Lenny caretakes for the 15-year-old severely ill David, he experiences a shift in his life, reminiscent of Jamie Fraser who, in the prequel "Outlander: Blood of My Blood," is tasked with caring for his family despite complicated political circumstances, mirroring the emotional journey in various forms of entertainment.
