Weekly free broadcasts of LaLiga soccer games, featuring teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona, to be aired on Disney+.
Disney+ has secured the rights to stream live LaLiga matches in the UK and Ireland over the next three seasons, marking a significant expansion of its sports offerings. Beginning this Saturday, the streaming service will present a live match each Saturday night in the UK and Ireland at no extra cost to Disney+ subscribers.
The first live match will be between Valencia and Real Sociedad on Saturday 16 August, with coverage beginning at 8:30pm BST. This exciting development comes as Disney+ also becomes the new streaming home of the Women's Champions League, with all matches set to be streamed live when they start in October.
Disney+ offers three subscription tiers in the UK: Standard with Ads, Standard, and Premium. The Basic (with ads) plan, priced at £4.99 per month, is the cheapest option and includes ads during streaming. The Standard (ad-free) plan, priced at £8.99 per month, removes ads but does not include 4K streaming. The Premium (ad-free, 4K UHD) plan, priced at £10.99 per month, offers the best visual experience with 4K Ultra HD streaming and higher picture quality.
In addition to the live sports offerings, Disney+ subscribers can enjoy a vast library of movies, TV shows, and original content. The agreement runs for three seasons, and Disney is planning a feature push in the "coming months".
Disney's general manager of EMEA, Karl Holmes, expressed his excitement about the new additions, saying, "At Disney, we celebrate storytelling that moves and excites. Now, with LaLiga joining the line-up, [viewers] can experience that same excitement on the pitch... as part of their Disney+ subscription."
Moreover, an additional profile can be added to a Disney+ account for someone who doesn't live at the same address for £3.99 per month. This makes it easier for families and friends to share the subscription while maintaining separate profiles.
With these new additions, Disney+ continues to solidify its position as a leading streaming service, providing high-quality entertainment for viewers in the UK and Ireland.
