The golfing world is set for an exciting twist with the introduction of the Weekly Course Record, a new recurring prize in partnership between Nexo, a global digital assets platform, and the DP World Tour. This innovative incentive kicks off at the Nexo Championship, held from Aug. 7-10 at the newly opened Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The Weekly Course Record offers a base prize of $10,000 to the first player who sets a new course record that stands at the close of the competition. If no course record is shot that week, the prize rolls over and increases by $10,000 for the next eligible event, continuing until a record is achieved.

In addition to the cash prize, the Nexo Championship will feature an additional award of NEXO tokens worth $50,000 for a course record that week, making it the first crypto-based performance reward on the DP World Tour.

The initiative is designed to showcase the growing role of digital assets in elite sports and encourage exciting performances. Many course records have already been broken in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, hinting at the potential for thrilling golf action.

The Weekly Course Record applies to professional players competing from designated championship tees in sanctioned DP World Tour tournaments, excluding multi-course events, pre-tournament Pro-Am competitions, standalone one-day tournaments, Major Championships, the Olympics, mixed events, and non-co-sanctioned PGA Tour events.

If two players set the course record simultaneously, the prize is shared equally. Only tournaments played on one course will be eligible for the Course Record Presented by Nexo. If a tournament is weather-affected, at least 36 holes must have been completed for it to be eligible.

Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer of the DP World Tour, expressed appreciation to Nexo for spearheading the new Course Record prize. He believes that events like the Nexo Championship play a significant role in generating more than $400 million in economic value annually for Scotland, making them important engines of regional growth.

The Nexo Championship is expected to contribute to the local economy by attracting visitors and extending the tourism season in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. The partnership between Nexo and DP World Tour reflects a milestone in both organisations' shared vision for innovation in professional golf.

The prize fund for the Course Record Presented by Nexo will run until the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. After culminating in Dubai, the incentive will reset for the 2026 season, marking the start of a new phase in the partnership between Nexo and DP World Tour.
