Anticipate Wet Weather with Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms This Weekend - Weekend weather brings gusty winds and heavy storms

Get ready for a weather rollercoaster ride this weekend in Germany! Although we're expecting sunshine and heat, the German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of occasional heavy thunderstorms, especially towards the evening on both days and into Sunday night.

On Saturday, temperatures will reach up to 35°C (95°F) in some regions, with cooler temperatures of 27°C (81°F) in the north and northeast. But beware, as the DWD forecasts frequent, even heavy thunderstorms in the western half of the country from Saturday evening onwards.

While Saturday might be a scorcher, Sunday will continue with the thunderstorms moving to the southeast and eastern parts of the country. But don't be fooled by the sunshine! The warmer southeastern half will still see temperatures soaring up to 32°C (90°F), while the cooler northwestern half will hover around 26°C (79°F).

Meteorologist Adrian Leyser cautions us that heavy rainfall and flooding becomes a risk in these thunderstorms, with certain areas potentially seeing a month's worth of rain in a short period.

Offenbach may feel the brunt of the storm, predicting severe thunderstorms as early as midday on Saturday with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h (43 mph), heavy rain, hail, and an increased risk of lightning strikes and hazardous debris. Thunderstorm activity may continue until about 4 p.m. on Saturday. During this time, the temperature will hover around 20°C (68°F).

Fortunately, the DWD predicts a calmer start to the week ahead, with a pleasant mix of sun and clouds. The far north and northeast will see cooler and cloudier weather as low-pressure systems move in, bringing temperatures down to a comfortable 20-26°C (68-79°F). But don't worry, summer will make a comeback soon enough!

[2] Some meteorologists have discussed the possibility of intense heatwaves later in the summer, but these are considered speculative and not directly tied to immediate weekend thunderstorm forecasts.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of severe thunderstorms across various parts of Germany this weekend, particularly on Saturday afternoon, with forecasts indicating strong gusts, heavy rain, hail, and an increased risk of lightning strikes in Offenbach as early as midday on Saturday.
