The much-anticipated new presenters for BBC One's flagship Saturday night football show, Match of the Day, have been announced. Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates, and Gabby Logan will share hosting duties and work on rotation this English football season.

Mark Chapman, a veteran broadcaster with over 25 years of experience, will be the first to present the show when it returns on BBC One at 10:20 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Chapman has been a regular presenter of the BBC's Sunday night Match of the Day programme and has covered a wide range of sports events during his career.

Kelly Cates, who has been a presenter with Sky Sports since rejoining the broadcaster in 2016, will host a program on Wednesday featuring Uefa Super Cup highlights and a look-ahead to the new English Premier League season. Cates has also fronted coverage of the Premier League for Sky Sports.

Gabby Logan, a former gymnast and a key part of the BBC's coverage of the Women's Euros in 2022 and last month, will host Match of the Day on Sunday nights. Logan has covered several Olympic Games, the World Cup, and the Commonwealth Games during her time at the BBC.

The trio replaced Gary Lineker, who stepped down earlier in 2025 following a social media controversy. Lineker, the BBC's highest-paid presenter and the host of Match Of The Day since 1999, had initially planned to stay on to front the BBC's live coverage of the FA Cup and 2026 World Cup, but brought forward his departure following a post about Zionism featuring a depiction of a rat, historically used as an antisemitic trope.

In addition to their roles on Match of the Day, Cates and Logan will continue their respective roles with Sky Sports and the BBC. Cates hosts a midweek program with UEFA Super Cup highlights and Premier League previews, while Logan has been a key part of the BBC's coverage of various sports events.

With the new presenting team in place, football fans can look forward to an exciting English football season on Match of the Day Saturday.
