Weekend sees Metropol Marathon ascending from Kaiserburg to Kleeblad
In June 2025, the city of Nuremberg and its neighbor Fürth will host the Metropolmarathon, a gathering filled with running and walking events that'll bring a wave of movement throughout the region. The main event day is set for Sunday, June 22, but there are activities both on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday is all about preliminary events, with the main event day, Sunday, giving us seven competitions: the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Run, Nordic Walking Route, Kids Marathon, and Youth Run. The races will start at Nuremberg's famous Hauptmarkt (main market square) and end at Fürther Freiheit in Fürth. The marathon offers a 42km run for the hardcore athletes, but there's something for everyone!
The route connecting the two cities offers various cityscapes, green spaces, and scenic views, making it an engaging urban and natural course. It's worth noting that the race course may lead to some temporary road closures and changes to public transportation services to ensure safety and seamless execution.
Registration for the Metropolmarathon 2025 ended in late May, but you can still sign up to volunteer and contribute to the marathon experience. Roughly 9,000 participants are expected across all events.
