Weekend Schedule for Panissa Cup: Blend of Football and Charity at "Ferrante"
A remarkable sports event is back and better, this time on June 28th and 29th at "Ferrante" corso Rigola. The highly-anticipated "Panissa Cup" 5+1 futsal tournament, first held in December 2019, makes its return, only six months later, with a new location. Instead of the "Luigi Bozino" sports field, the action will unfold on a lush grass pitch, the regular stomping ground of Piemonte Sport.
Two vibrant football prodigies, Niccolò Tummino and Roberto Scheda, born in 2010, are the masterminds behind this amazing spectacle. Roberto, a second-year classical high school student and Torino footballer, and Niccolò, a 'Diavoletti' goalkeeper attending a four-year scientific high school, conjured up this idea last summer. With passion and determination, what started as a casual pastime is now a remarkable reality.
"It all started as a fun idea," they share, "today it's become a serious project." These young guns wanted to draw in their contemporaries while keeping compassion at the heart of their event: funds from the initial tournament went to Caritas. This time, they have another charitable plan up their sleeves: a symbolic entrance fee will be charged, but the anticipated turnout promises to be massive. "Our social media page already logged 32,000 interactions in the last few hours," Niccolò reveals. "Professional players from Juventus, Genoa, and Torino are keen to join in, ensuring a high-quality football experience. Yet, competition won't lack either as teams of players aged between 2008 and 2010 battle it out all year long and now, on mini pitches, for noble causes."
Their infectious spirit saw the participants swell from 70 to 80, divided into 8 teams, competing in two groups of 5. The top four from each group will advance to the quarter-finals and the final.
The defending champions, "Menta FC," will kick off the tournament at 10:00 AM with matches every half-hour. Group A is comprised of Menta, Black Mamba, Bayern, Dragons, and Paranda. Group B includes Underdoggs, Us Ticchiu, Trino Hub, Borussia, and Pinturicchio FC.
Though information about the Panissa Cup or its organizers is scarce (search results mainly reference the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup), their enthusiasm fills hearts with joy and anticipation. Let the games begin!
On June 28th and 29th, the football-centric sports event, the Panissa Cup, is set to unfold on the lush grass pitch at "Ferrante" corso Rigola, following the exhilarating tournament held in December 2019. Two emerging football talent, Niccolò Tummino and Roberto Scheda, have designed this event to encompass passion, camaraderie, and charity, as they strive to keep compassion at the heart of their event, just like their first tournament that raised funds for Caritas.
