Weekend ice hockey clash at Outpost pits Ice Wolves against the Warriors
The New Mexico Ice Wolves are gearing up for an epic weekend of hockey as they take on the Oklahoma Warriors in a South Division matchup. The games will be held at Outpost Ice Arenas, with puck drop at 6:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
Currently in second place in the South Division, the Ice Wolves have had a strong start to the season. Last week, they opened against the Amarillo Wranglers, winning 2 out of 3 games. Last season's leading scorer for the Ice Wolves, Andy Earl, was in fine form, putting up five points in the team's opening weekend, scoring two goals and providing three assists. Earl was recently named South Division Star of the Week in recognition of his impressive performance.
The Ice Wolves will be looking to continue their winning ways against the Oklahoma Warriors, who currently sit in third place in the division. The teams last met in a preseason game, with the Ice Wolves emerging victorious with a score of 7-2.
For the Warriors, a new member, Anton Malyshev, will be a player to watch. Malyshev scored both goals in Sunday's 2-1 win against the Amarillo Wranglers. This will be the first regular season meeting between the Ice Wolves and the Warriors.
The Lone Star Brahmas, who are in first place in the South Division, will not be in action this weekend as they have a bye. However, fans will still have plenty to look forward to, with special guests, the Lobo volleyball team, set to attend Friday's game.
On Saturday, fans will have the opportunity to skate with the players after the game. College students can also enjoy a free hot chocolate at Friday's game with their student IDs.
As the South Division race heats up, these games promise to be a thrilling spectacle of hockey. Be sure to catch the action at Outpost Ice Arenas this Friday and Saturday.
