Franconia Weather Forecast for the Week Ahead

Get ready for a change in the temperature in Franconia next week, as the week ahead is predicted to be mostly cloudy with occasional rain, according to weather expert Stefan Ochs.

The week will start off with very warm temperatures, with the mercury expected to rise to between 23 and 27 degrees. However, a new high is building up near the British Isles, but it will remain too far north to improve the weather in Franconia.

The weather situation is creating a southwesterly weather pattern that directs extremely dry air from subtropical regions to Central Europe. As a result, the weekend in Franconia is expected to bring T-shirt weather, with temperatures of 30 to 31 degrees.

However, the weather change is predicted to occur towards the end of the week. On Sunday (21 September), a cold front will move in from the southeast, bringing with it light rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. The weather development for Sunday is difficult to predict in detail, but maxima of 23 to 27 degrees are expected, with a mix of sun and clouds.

On Sunday night, a front will move towards southeastern Bavaria, affecting Franconia with the rear rain area. In the night from Sunday to Monday (22 September), the region can expect rain covering the area with little sunshine expected. Temperatures will drop sharply to a maximum of 12 to 13 degrees Celsius during the day, significantly colder than the weekend before.

Winds will be mostly weak from the north, with stronger gusts possible only in the Franconian Switzerland area. Little sunshine can be expected on Monday, despite the weakening rain during the day. The highest temperatures for the following week will be between 13 and 16 degrees and will drop to up to 5 degrees at night.

The German Weather Service (DWD) attributes the current weather situation to a high-pressure area moving from the Alps to the Carpathians. Weak winds from north to east will shape the unstable weather situation for the following week.
