Hey there! Get ready to throw on your shades and slather on the sunscreen cause it's gonna be a scorcher over the Corpus Christi holiday and the weekend in the Free State! The German Weather Service predicts a high-pressure system bringing us plenty of sunshine and temps hitting up to 30°C. But brace yourself, mates, there's a good ol' risk of forest fires in many areas.

Forest areas in Middle Franconia, in particular, will be under close observation from the skies! With summery temperatures inviting an ice cream, expect isolated clouds and max temps between 26 and 31°C today. On Corpus Christi, it's gonna be dry and mostly sunny, but don't be surprise if you see a few puffy clouds.

On the holiday, temps will range from 22°C in the Hof region to a sweltering 31°C on the Danube. Friday's gonna be warm, too, with max temps between 22 and 27°C, plenty of sunshine, and wind gusts in the southwest.

Warning, warning! This heatwave and dry spell boosts the risk of forest fires in Bavaria. Danger's at least medium at all stations on Sunday, and even high at many places, especially in Middle Franconian stations like Nuremberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

To keep an eye on potential fire hazards, Middle Franconia's government ordered air observations of forest areas from Thursday to Sunday. Helicopters with volunteer pilots from the Middle Franconia air rescue squadron, trained air observers from the fire department, and forest authorities will be keeping a lookout for anything suspicious in high-risk forest areas. Light pine forests and heavily visited forests in urban areas are main targets.

The government of Lower Franconia also announced air observations of forests from Thursday to Sunday. On top of the forest fire risk, they're monitoring for bark beetle infestations. Holidaymakers are urged to give up smokin' and keep any open flames or barbecues far far away from the forests!

So, enjoy the sunshine and warmth, but keep safety top of mind. And remember, 'tis a good idea to listen to local officials and their cautions regarding forest fires. Happy and safe holiday weekend, folks! 💥🔥🌳

One could say that while enjoying the scorching temperatures and sunny weather over the Corpus Christi holiday and weekend, it's crucial to stay alert and heed the environmental-science-based warnings about the heightened risk of forest fires due to the dry spell. With this in mind, several Bavarian regions, like Middle Franconia and Lower Franconia, have initiated air observations of forests, deploying resources such as helicopters, trained observers, and forest authorities to monitor potential fire hazards.
