Weekend 2 brings back the Battlefield 6 beta, offering another compact map and two popular game modes for a four-day trial. So, it's sneakers and headsets for me!
Battlefield 6 Beta Weekend 2 Expands Multiplayer Experience
The second phase of the Battlefield 6 beta, which took place from August 14th to August 18th, 2025, brought a wealth of new content to players, enhancing the multiplayer experience ahead of the full game's release in October.
During this weekend, players were able to try out a new map, Empire State, a highly anticipated infantry-only map that has been hailed as one of the coolest parts of the game's reveal trailer. In addition to the Empire State map, two new game modes, Rush and Squad Deathmatch, were introduced, adding variety to the existing core modes such as Conquest and Breakthrough.
The playlist structure for the weekend was diverse, offering a mix of modes and maps. On Thursday, players could engage in Conquest, Rush, Attack & Defend (a combination of Breakthrough and Rush), Close Quarters (which included Domination, King of the Hill, and Squad Deathmatch), and Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (a selection of Conquest and Breakthrough).
Friday's playlist included Conquest, Squad Deathmatch, Close Quarters (with Domination, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch, and Squad Deathmatch), All-Out Warfare (a mix of Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush), and Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (a selection of Conquest and Breakthrough). The weekend's final two days, Saturday and Sunday, featured the same playlist structure as Friday.
To incentivize playtime and encourage mode variety, specific challenges were present during the beta. Completing these challenges unlocked exclusive rewards, including new skins and weapon packages. The Rising Star and Seeker skins, as well as the Striking Distance weapon packages, were among the exclusive rewards available.
DICE's lead Battlefield producer, David Sirland, mentioned that the maps chosen for the beta were selected to demonstrate the game's fast-paced gameplay. The beta also introduced a Custom Search feature in Open Weapon mode playlists, allowing players to mix and match maps and modes according to their preference.
It's important to note that the beta did not include any of the three large maps promised for launch, such as Kundara Valley, New Sobek City, or the Operation Firestorm remake. However, developers planned ongoing adjustments based on player feedback from the weekend.
In summary, the Battlefield 6 Beta Weekend 2 significantly expanded the game's content with a new map, new modes, configurable playlists, and fresh rewards through challenges, offering players a more diverse and rich multiplayer experience.
