Week Three High School Football Results - The string of victories and losses for both Valley Christian and Cerritos come to an end, with Valley Christian relentlessly containing Cerritos yet again.

In an exciting game played at Dr. Hanford Rants Stadium on Sept. 18, Valley Christian High emerged victorious against Cerritos High with a score of 42-23.

Junior quarterback Graham Lunzer, who previously attended West Forsyth High School, accounted for all six touchdowns for Valley Christian High. Lunzer completed half of his 14 passes for 75 yards and rushed eight times for 77 yards. Senior Sean Bouma had an interception with 20 seconds left in the game, securing the victory for Valley Christian High.

On the offensive side of the ball, Valley Christian High focused on getting the football to Boateng, who played both as an outside safety and a receiver. Boateng showed significant progress from his junior year to his senior year, gaining 76 yards on nine rushes and catching three passes for 52 yards. Senior Cole Hefner caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Lunzer to give Valley Christian High the lead for good in the first half. Hefner led the team with 10 tackles in the game.

Senior Bailey Crawford of Cerritos High sacked Graham Lunzer for a six-yard loss on the second play of the game, but the Cerritos High defense could not hold off Valley Christian High's offensive attack. Ky led the defense for Cerritos High with seven tackles, and four other players each had half a dozen tackles. Senior Mateo Arancibia kicked a 30-yard field goal to give Cerritos High a 21-17 lead, but Valley Christian High came back to take the lead for good.

Last season, Valley Christian High doubled up Cerritos High in a game played on the other side of the 605 freeway. In the five games between the two programs, Valley Christian High has won by an average of 40-17.

Both Cerritos High and Valley Christian High played games on Sept. 18, with Cerritos facing Canyon High at Fred Kelly Stadium on the El Modena High campus and Valley Christian going to Clark Field in Lakewood to play St. Anthony High.

Dobmeier and Morales, senior linemen for Valley Christian High, each had four tackles in the game against Cerritos High. Despite missing its leading rusher, one of its two quarterbacks, and one of its top receivers for the game, Valley Christian High demonstrated a strong offensive performance.

As the season progresses, both Cerritos High and Valley Christian High will look to build on their performances and continue to improve. The next game for Cerritos High will be against Canyon High, while Valley Christian High will face St. Anthony High.
