High School Football Returns to DC, Maryland, and Virginia
After a week's break, high school football teams from the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area are gearing up for another exciting round of games this week. Here's a rundown of some of the matches to look forward to:
On Friday night, Centreville and Yorktown will face off in Virginia. The game will be a closely contested one, as Yorktown won their last game 50-0, while Centreville suffered a narrow loss of 56-47.
In another Virginia matchup, Sherwood will take on Seneca Valley at 6:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Bullis will play St. Christopher's and St. John's will face St. Mary's Ryken, also at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
Richard Wright will play Ron Brown at 6 p.m., with the game to be held at Spingarn High School. Good Counsel will play Middletown and Bishop McNamara will face Maury, both at 7 p.m. Eastern will play Georgetown Prep and Gar-Field will play North Stafford, also at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
Bladensburg will play Bowie at 6:30 p.m., while Stafford will take on Osbourn Park at 7 p.m. South Lakes will play Battlefield, and Douglass Baltimore will face Fairmont Heights, both at 7 p.m.
DeMatha will play Roman Catholic, Colonial Forge will face Gainesville, and St. Albans will play Jackson-Reed, all at 7 p.m. Central will play Reginald Lewis at 4 p.m., Springbrook will play Wheaton, Northwestern will play Suitland, and Potomac will take on Brooke Point, all at 7 p.m. Park View will play Manassas Park, and Glen Burnie will play Largo (to be held at Laurel), both at 7 p.m.
A regional matchup to watch out for is Northwest and Churchill, who will face each other on Friday night. Churchill won their first game of the season last week, while Northwest lost.
In other matches, Coolidge will play Southern (NC) at 7 p.m., HD Woodson will play Martinsburg, Dunbar will face Woodbridge, Winters Mill will play Watkins Mill, Archbishop Carroll will play CHEC (to be played at Cardozo), Damascus will play Wootton, KIPP will play Friendly, Phelps will play Ballou, Duval will face Oxon Hill, and Mountain View will play Patriot, all at various times.
