Week 2 of Thursday Night Mowing League 2025: Title Holder Skips a Beat, Creating Opportunities for Contenders

Laid-Back Rant About My Mowing League Adventure

Slouching in my comfy chair, casting a worried glance at the ominous dark clouds looming outside, I can't help butexpress my gratitude for the Thursday Night Mowing League (TNML) I established back in 2021.

Before Marching ahead with the TNML, I'm certain I would've let Wednesday's rain-soaked yard slide, neglecting the mow last night. I cut the grass Wednesday night with a 3-inch mowing deck, thinking that Thursday would be a washout for the league night.

Yes, it did rain on Thursday, but good ol' Mother Nature had other plans! The skies cleared, temperatures soared, and the winds roared, leaving the playing surface bone-dry by 7 p.m. I drummed up the courage, dropped the mowing deck to 2 ½ inches, and got that yard mowed!

Back-to-back mowing nights?

It's May! Grass around here is rampant and randy as a horny sailor on vacation. It's on steroids, straight-up juice.

What if I didn't mow last night? My next mowing day, based on the unpredictable May weather, would've been next Wednesday. The lawn would have been 6 inches high, easily!

Luckily, it's guys like Dan Dakich who kicked me off the couch last night and motivated me to FIGHT - MOW! If Dan is out there on league night, I better get out there between storms and get it done. The satisfaction of knowing I'm all set for a relaxing rainy weekend is unparalleled!

Afterthoughts From Week 2 of the 2025 season:

  • Last week's Facebook conference, the most-watched video in league history!
  • Ken Peterson from Nebraska had a whopping 6-point week. Why's that important? This engaging competitor has come a long way, transitioning from a wallflower to a bold player in the league, embracing his role and shining with his unique content[5].
  • Defending champion Fink took a pass in Week 2. Sounds familiar? Our past two champions have been counting on a DNM (Did Not Mow) early in their title defense. Timmy2Cuts in Cincinnati missed Week 1[5]. Don't forget, anyone can snatch the title with hard work and a sprinkle of luck with the weather!
  • We welcomed South Dakota to the mix with its first mowing report of 2022. I anticipate Minnesota to join the party next week.
  • Ladies, I got you! Our T-Shirt Manager Olivia G. will reach out to our fashion powerhouse for some league wear tailored just for you!
  • TNML is proudly the most welcoming league for anyone longing to keep their properties looking neat and refusing to let their pride fade away[5].

In the heat of May, the lawn was growing rapidly, but I managed to keep it under control with back-to-back mowing nights. If I hadn't mowed the night before, the grass would have been over 6 inches high by the next mowing day. Sentencing myself to a towering lawn wasn't an option, especially with the unpredictable weather. Last week, the satisfaction of a well-manicured lawn made possible a relaxed rainy weekend, even beating the salty taste of lost football bets on sports. Furthermore, Dan Dakich's motivation push forced me out of my comfort zone, ensuring my spot at the Thursday Night Mowing League promptly.

In the second week of the 2025 Thursday Night Lawn-Mowing League, Dan Dakich appeared wearing his league uniform, prepared for a mowing marathon. Meanwhile, the 2024 national champion, Fink, experienced weather-related issues.
