'Week 1 Scores and Leaderboard Revealed in 'Dancing With The Stars' Debut'

The 20th anniversary season of Dancing With the Stars kicked off on Tuesday, Sept. 16, with a star-studded premiere that doubled the viewership compared to last season.

In the opening night, a total of eight celebrity contestants took to the dance floor for their inaugural performances. Among them were Robert Irwin and Witney Carson, who performed a lively Jive to "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf and scored 15/20 (7, 8).

Hilaria Baldwin and Gleb Savchenko also impressed the judges with their Cha Cha to "Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez, earning a respectable 14/20 (7, 7).

However, not all contestants found the same success. Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Baron Davis and Britt Stewart, Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa, and Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson each scored 10/20 (5, 5) in their Cha Cha and Tango performances.

Lauren Jauregui and Brandon Armstrong, Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas, Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Scott Hoying and Rylee Arnold all scored 13/20 (7, 6) and 12/20 (6, 6) in their Tango and Cha Cha performances, respectively.

Andy Richter and Emma Slater performed a Cha Cha to "Hold On, I'm Coming" by Sam & Dave and scored 9/20 (5, 4). Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten's Cha Cha earned them 12/20 (6, 6).

Longtime judge Carrie Ann Inaba was absent due to an undisclosed illness, with Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli stepping in to fill her seat on the jury. Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov's Tango to "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" by Kelly Clarkson scored 12/20 (6, 6), and Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik's Salsa to "NUEVAYoL" by Bad Bunny earned them 12/20 (6, 6).

Finally, contestant Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas performed a Tango that scored 15/20 (8, 7), securing the highest score of the night.
