Weather transformation in Primorye next week: From torrential rain to sweltering heat

Primorye, Russia, is currently experiencing unusually high sea temperatures, with the region's coast reaching record levels, according to Boris Kubay, the region's chief meteorologist.

The main cause of these record-high sea water temperatures is the influx of very warm air masses from China combined with atmospheric conditions that create instability, such as low pressure over the region. This meteorological setup leads to heat accumulation in regional seas, including Primorye, elevating sea temperatures to unprecedented levels.

Additional supporting factors involve vertical air motions and frontal weather structures influencing the area. Meteorological data, including Q-vector convergence indicating upward air movement and stationary frontal zones near the Primorye region, further support this. These atmospheric dynamics help sustain warm conditions and contribute to the sea heating.

This week, from July 30 to 31, atmospheric fronts from a Chinese cyclone will bring rain to some areas of Primorye. Daytime temperatures will rise slightly inland and drop along the coast on Tuesday. On Monday, temperatures in Vladivostok will reach +28...+32 °C, with the eastern coast being cooler at +22...+26 °C.

On Tuesday, the region will be influenced by two weather systems: an Okhotsk anticyclone ridge will affect the east, while a trough from China will approach. Southeasterly winds will pick up, occasionally gusty, on Tuesday. No new information about rain or weather systems for the upcoming days has been provided.

Nighttime temperatures from July 30 to 31 will remain largely unchanged, with daytime highs of +25...+31 °C, and +20...+24 °C along the coast. Water near Vladivostok has warmed to 26 °C, and in Posyet, it has reached record highs of 29 °C.

Looking ahead, by August 1, a Pacific anticyclone ridge will strengthen, ending the rain and raising temperatures to +27...+33 °C. Midweek, strengthening southeasterly winds and cooling temperatures are expected: nighttime lows of +19...+22 °C, and daytime highs not exceeding +22...+27 °C. Vladivostok will have a mostly dry week, with a slight chance of nighttime rain on Thursday.

On Monday, July 28, brief showers are expected in Primorye due to the passage of atmospheric fronts. By August 1, the region will have experienced a week of fluctuating weather patterns, with record-high sea temperatures and a mix of sun and rain. Stay tuned for further updates on Primorye's weather forecast.

Weather forecasting data indicates a potential increase in daytime temperatures across Primorye, Russia, due to the influence of an approaching Pacific anticyclone ridge starting from August 1. This heated air mass could further contribute to the abnormally high sea temperatures that the region's coast is currently experiencing, as observed by Boris Kubay, the region's chief meteorologist.
