Weather Authority Kazgidromet Warns Residents of Astana and Almaty

Rewritten Article:

Heads up, folks! Kazhydromet, our weather experts, have issued a warning for the residents of Astana and Almaty on May 13, 2025. The threat? Potentially hazardous air conditions.

Here's the lowdown: bad weather combining with calm winds, fog, and an inversion (you know, where warm air traps cold air, trapping pollutants too) could spell trouble. These adverse weather conditions are expected to hit the cities of Kokshetau, Almaty, and Astana.

So, what can we expect in these cities on the 13th? Almaty will be variable and cloudy, with no precipitation expected, winds blowing from the southwest at 3-8 meters per second, and temperatures ranging from 13-15 degrees at night to 27-29 degrees during the day. Nighttime temperatures in Astana will be around 14-16 degrees, daytime will be 28-30 degrees, with winds of 3-8 meters per second. Unfortunately, some areas surrounding Almaty and Astana are forecasted for high fire danger due to dry conditions.

Moving on, starting from May 15, southern and central Kazakhstan will see severe heatwave with temperatures soaring to 35-44 degrees Celsius. Why, you ask? Thanks to Iran for sending us some warm air masses! Meanwhile, the west and north of the country are under the influence of a cyclone and frontal systems, with rain, thunderstorms, and hail expected.

Earlier in the month, Kazhydromet reported that May's average air temperature will be 1 degree Celsius above normal or more throughout most of the country. Better prepare yourselves, folks!

Stay updated and weather-ready with our handy weather updates! In the meantime, don't forget to monitor those fire hazard warnings and be mindful of any localized air quality issues caused by these conditions. Remember, your safety is our top priority!

Note: Fire dangers are forecasted for the north and west of Almaty, parts of the region where Astana is located, and the northern areas including Kokshetau. Be cautious and stay safe during this time!
